The features of Ragheb's Vocabulary book and examining the methods of finding the meaning of words in it

Abstract

Abstract
The main purpose of this article is to investigate the methods of finding the meaning of the Qur’anic terminology in the book "al-Mufradāt fī Gharīb al-Qurʾān" and also to mention some of its characteristics and peculiarities. Since there are manifold methods to find the meanings of the Qur’anic terminology, the question arises with regard to the book "al-Mufradāt fī Gharīb al-Qurʾān" as to what methods has the author of this book employed to explicate the meanings of the Qur’anic vocabulary? Moreover, what are the peculiarities of this book, apart from elucidating the meanings of Qur’anic terminology? This research, which was conducted through explanatory-descriptive-analytical, and library methods, concludes that first, the author of the book "al-Mufradāt fī Gharīb al-Qurʾān", has employed several methods such as citing narratives, determining instances of the vocabulary, the Qur'an-to-Qur'an interpretation method, etc. in order to explicate the meanings of the Qur'anic terminology. Second, the book in question is not only a comprehensive book for comprehending the meanings of the vocabulary of the Qur'an, but also a large Qur'anic encyclopedia that may be used and cited in interdisciplinary, ethical, theological, jurisprudential issues and specifically in the semantics of the Qur'anic terminology and the interpretation of the verses.
