Abstract
Understanding the meaning is one of the important issues in the realm of
philosophy and linguistics. This paper attempts to discover the role of context
as the most important component in understanding the meaning of the text,
including religious and secular texts. Based on analytical studies it is indicated
that three component, author, text and interpreter are affected by the context in
the process of realizing the meaning. The contribution of each component,
however, varies in accordance with their different role in understanding the
meaning. Context has impact over understanding the Quran and
Traditions (Ahadith). Different nature of the Holy Quran to other texts makes
it possible to evaluate the influence of these elements in a different manner
from other texts. Given The miraculous nature of Quran, the main element is
text. In order to obtain the correct understanding, it is necessary for the
interpreter to encounter text as much as possible without default
